Ajmer
Dargah a small town located in the old religious center of the city. It is a tomb of Moin-ud-Din Chishti. This tomb is surrounded by silver platform and surmounted by marble dome. Entrance to Dargah is via Buland Darwaza that ends at court yard. There you could see two huge cauldrons that were utilized to cook 2 to 6 tons of rice for needy. Fort of Akbar crafted in 1570 contains an interesting museum with sculptures as well as Rajput armor. Anniversary of his death attracts many pilgrims. You may see a collection of weapons from Mughal plus Rajput regime. Adhai-Din-Ka Jhonpra is a mosque that is a premium illustration of Indo-Muslim construction. The pillars of the mosque are different and the walls are covered with arched entries from the Quran. Originally building was a Sanskrit school but was converted in to mosque by Mohammad Ghauri in the year 1193.
Bikaner
The red bead of Rajasthan requires a break for seeing the fortress. There are the apartments of Raja of Bikaner and temples:
- The Shish Mahal (palace of mirrors)
- The Ganga Niwas Palace
- The Chandra Mahal (Pleasure of the Moon)
- Karn Mahal.
The city of Bikaner was originated in 1459 by Bika, the son of Rao Jodha. Like most of the Rajput rulers, those of Bikaner had to face the Lodis and the Mughals. In 1537 they suffered a severe defeat at the foot of the ramparts of Bikaner. But the city was finally taken by the Raja of Jodhpur and Bikaner. He allied himself with the ruler of Delhi at the time, Sher Shah Suri. His armies marched on Jodhpur restored the throne of Bikaner in 1546.
Pushkar Lake
A magical place that is full of serenity, or ascetics, birds and tourists similar to a microcosm in desert. The escalation of the surrounding mountain permits stunning view of the lake.
Samode Palace
This palace belongs to a family of nobles of the city. Precisely recognized as Rawal or Maha Rawal. They are the token of loyalty as well as courage in the hands of Royal family. This palace is approximately 399 years old. Its structural design is a blend of Mughal plus Rajput style. The floor is made of blue tiles plus the walls are covered with plant pattern paint. You may also see the living room of mirrors as the name suggests, it is decorated with pieces of mirrors on the walls. If you go a bit on higher on hills you will find Fort Samode. It is in a poor condition but it present a breath taking view of the city.
Gaitor
Gaitor is the site of the funerary complex of Maharajas from the time of Jai Singh II. It is placed on the road conecting Jaipur and Amber. Visitors are pleased with the delightfully carved structure and it is a site to enjoy at sunrise as well as at the time of sunset. But for visiting this site hire a taxi for full day and ask them to wait for you as there are no frequent visitors so the transportation is not good.
