Madhya Pradesh

The state of Madhya Pradesh lies in the plain regions of the country. The state got its name from its geographical location since “Madhya Pradesh” literally means “Central Region”. If talked about its geographical location, this state is bounded completely with the borders of few other states but does not have a border touching to any other country and nor has a touching shoreline. Towards the northern end is the state of Uttar Pradesh while towards the western side is Rajasthan and Gujarat. The southern end is bounded by Maharashtra and the eastern touches with Chhattisgarh that was till 2000 part of Madhya Pradesh state.

Madhya Pradesh has never been encouraged as a tourist place but rather it is a place that is richly adorned with the historical monuments, ancient pictures and portraits, religious monuments with erotic sculptures and various tribal communities. Despite of all these richness, the tourists arrangements have never been much encouraged in the state.

Because of its geographical location, the state is also at times referred to as Heart of the country. The cultural practice of this region is by communities like Hindu, Islam, and Buddhist etc. The state is adorned with countless monuments, divinely engraved temples, sculptures, historical garrison and bastions. Madhya Pradesh has also received the Best Tourism State Award for 2012.

The natural diversity of the state can be seen in every part. The highlands of the mountain ranges of the Vindhyas and Satpuras are the other reason that makes this state distinguishable. The high mountains are the source of rivers like Narmada and Tapti that flows towards east from west whereas from west to east it is source for Chambal, Betwa, Sone and Mahanadi. Impressive and enormous hills, the snaky rivers flowing throw these hills and the almost endless thick forests gives this place an inimitable reason for tourists to come and feel this place. The wildlife of the area is vast. Almost one third land of the state is covered by thick forests and this is the reason this place has numerous wildlife sanctuaries and few of them to be named are National Park of Kanha, Shivpuri and Bandhavgarh etc. Tourists can have a treat to watch tigers, bisons and different species of deer and antelope.

The current state of Madhya Pradesh was formed in 1956 but its historical importance makes it clear the place has always been known during ancient times.
